Overview
Trip Tally is designed to protect your privacy. Your trip information is stored locally on your device. We (the developer) do not operate any servers for this app and do not have access to your data. You may optionally choose to sync your data across your devices using your personal iCloud account.
Data Storage & iCloud Sync
- Local Storage: By default, all trip data (dates, locations, notes, optional map coordinates, and like/dislike flags) is stored locally on your device.
- iCloud Sync (Optional): If you choose to enable iCloud Sync in the app settings, your data will be stored in your private iCloud container to synchronize across your devices. This data is encrypted and managed by Apple. We (the developer) do not have access to your iCloud data.
Location Data
The app may request “When In Use” location access to bias Apple Maps search results and to help you refine destination coordinates. Location access is optional. If you deny permission, the app remains functional.
Third-Party Services
- Apple Maps (MapKit): Used for place search, geocoding, and displaying maps.
- Apple iCloud (CloudKit): Used for data storage and synchronization only if you enable the "iCloud Sync" feature.
Data Sharing
We do not share your data with third parties. If you enable iCloud Sync, your data is transferred to Apple’s servers for storage within your personal iCloud account, governed by Apple’s privacy policy.
Data Retention
- Local: Data remains on your device until you delete specific trips or uninstall the app.
- iCloud: If sync is enabled, data persists in your iCloud account. You can delete this data by deleting trips within the app or managing your iCloud storage settings.
Security
Your data stays on your device or, if enabled, within your encrypted iCloud container. We do not operate any servers for this app and cannot view or mine your data.
