Clear information about what the app stores, where it lives, and when it is shared.

Overview

Trip Tally stores your trip information inside the app on your device. The developer does not operate any servers and does not receive your data.

The optional AI Road Trip Planner can send travel profile data you provide to a third-party AI service (Anthropic or OpenAI) to generate itineraries. This only happens when you actively use the feature and supply your own API key.

ℹ️ Key points Your data stays on your device by default, iCloud sync is optional, and the AI planner is opt-in only.

Data Stored on Your Device

The app stores the information you enter so it can power history, dashboard insights, and sharing.

• Trips: dates, start and destination names, distance, notes, preferences, destination type, towing, and coverage selections.
• Optional map details: coordinates and cached place labels for destinations.
• Vehicles and towing items, including archived status.
• Weather snapshots and timestamps saved with a trip.
• App settings like units, defaults, home location, and themes.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, the app uses CloudKit to keep your trips and related data in sync across your devices.

• Sync stores data in your private iCloud account, not on developer servers.
• Synced data includes trips, vehicles, towing items, and — if you use the Road Trip Planner — saved plans, saved searches, and travel profiles.
