Overview

Trip Tally stores your trip information inside the app on your device. The developer does not operate any servers and does not receive, collect, or sell your personal data.

Some optional features send limited data to third parties to work — for example, the AI Road Trip Planner sends the travel details you enter to an AI provider you choose, and Nearby Places sends your approximate location to a maps data service. These only happen when you actively use those features. This policy explains what is stored, where it lives, and when anything is shared.

Key points: Your data stays on your device by default. iCloud sync is optional. The AI Road Trip Planner is opt-in and uses your own API key. The developer never receives your data.

Data Stored on Your Device

The app stores the information you enter so it can power history, dashboard insights, and sharing:

• Trips: dates, start and destination names, distance, notes, preferences, destination type, towing, and coverage selections.
• Optional map details: coordinates and cached place labels for destinations.
• Vehicles and towing items, including archived status.
• Weather snapshots and timestamps saved with a trip.
• Saved road trip plans, travel profiles, and saved searches (if you use the Road Trip Planner).
• App settings such as units, defaults, home location, and themes.

iCloud Sync

If you enable iCloud Sync in Settings, the app uses Apple CloudKit to keep your data in sync across your devices.

• Synced data is stored in your private iCloud account, not on developer servers.
• Synced data includes trips, vehicles, towing items, and — if you use the Road Trip Planner — saved plans, saved searches, and travel profiles.
• Disabling sync keeps new changes local to the device.
• If devices disagree, allow time for CloudKit to finish syncing before making major changes.
