Trip Tally User Guide v2.1
Practical answers, step-by-step flows, and the reasoning behind the app’s stats.
Getting Started
Trip Tally works right away with sensible defaults. You can start logging trips immediately, then refine settings as you go.
- Open Settings and confirm your Home Location. This label is used for round trip detection and some statistics.
- Pick your Measurement System (metric or imperial). Distances are stored in kilometers and displayed in your chosen units.
- Set your Carrier Region so mobile coverage choices match your area.
- Optional: set default Vehicle, Towing, Towing Item, and Destination Type to speed up new trip entries.
💡 Quick start
If you have at least one past trip, the Start Location field will prefill with your most recent destination to speed up round-trip logging.
App Basics
Each trip captures the essentials plus optional details that power maps, stats, and posters.
- Required: Date, Start Location, Destination, Distance.
- Optional: Destination Type, Towing option and item, Vehicle used, Preferences, Notes, Labels, Mobile Coverage, and Coordinates.
- Weather is saved only when a trip has coordinates. It can be fetched on save or refreshed later.
- Distances are stored in kilometers internally but shown in your chosen units.
ℹ️ Destination type propagation
When you save a trip, the Destination Type is applied to other trips with the same destination name, keeping your stats consistent.
